Civil Air Patrol (CAP)

Founded just days before Pearl Harbor, the Civil Air Patrol has served communities across America through emergency response, aerospace education, and youth leadership programs for more than 80 years. As the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, CAP conducts search and rescue missions, disaster relief, and aviation education while helping young people develop leadership, discipline, and a spirit of service. Today, CAP continues to inspire the next generation of aviators and public servants both in the air and on the ground.

The First of almost 1,000 Chapters

EAA Chapter 1

In 1954, the very first chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association was founded at Flabob Airport after local aircraft designer Ray Stits encouraged EAA founder Paul Poberezny to allow local chapters. What started as one small chapter at Flabob helped spark a nationwide movement of homebuilders, restorers, and aviation enthusiasts that continues today.
