Students use real-world math while working on projects involving aircraft, automotive work, tire balancing, measurements, and fabrication.

Technology

Students interact with real tools, equipment, and aviation technology in an active airport environment.

Students design, build, problem-solve, and work alongside mentors while learning real engineering principles through hands-on projects.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Red Barn Aviation

At Red Barn, students are introduced to the world of aviation through immersive, hands-on experience in aircraft building, repair, and restoration.

Under expert guidance, young people develop valuable technical skills including engine diagnostics, riveting, rib stitching, painting, welding, and other critical aspects of restoration.

Middle + HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Air Academies

Middle and high school students are introduced to aviation science that may include weather, navigation, and the principals of flight.

Multi-day experience includes a number of hands-on activities and may culminate with an EAA Young Eagles flight.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Rocketry Program

The Rocket Program is a 9-week, hands-on course designed for high school students ready to explore the exciting world of rocketry.

Each week combines an engaging lecture with a lab-based activity, giving students real experience building and testing rockets.  The class culminates at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry launch site where students launch a rocket.

YOUTH OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM

Paid Aircraft Restoration Experience for Young Adults

Students are referred by the Rubidoux Youth Opportunity Center and work closely with certified instructors.  They can earn up to 150 hours of paid, real-world work experience.

Through an aircraft restoration company at Flabob, students work on vintage airplanes gaining valuable STEM knowledge and technical skills that introduce them to future employment opportunities.

YOUTH OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM

Paid Auto-Body Experience for Young Adults

Students are referred by the Rubidoux Youth Opportunity Center and work closely with certified instructors.  They can earn up to 150 hours of paid, real-world work experience.

In the auto-body program, teens learn practical skills that prepare them for jobs in tire or mechanic shops. Skills taught include proper car washing technique, polishing, stripping paint, restoration, and airbrushing.
